Letting or selling your leasehold property

Letting your property

As the leaseholder, you are free to let out your property as a landlord, subject to certain conditions:

  • Please let us know that you are renting out your property
  • Do give us your new address and phone numbers
  • Do provide contact details for your tenants, any key holders and your managing agent if you are using one, as we need to be able to contact them if there are any problems with the flat, such as a burst water pipe
  • Do make sure that your tenants keep to the terms of the lease, as you are responsible for their actions.

For further guidance on letting your property and your landlord responsibilities, please read the following document:  Letting your leasehold property (PDF 197KB).

Selling your leasehold property

Solicitors please note: All correspondence regarding the sale of a leasehold flat, or remortgaging a leasehold flat is handled by Customer Accounts. Call 01442 228315 or email customer.accounts@dacorum.gov.uk.

If you're selling your leasehold property, you (or your solicitor) can request and pay for an information pack (also known as a seller's pack) online. The pack costs £240 (inclusive of VAT) and contains all the details you need to sell your property, including information about the freehold management, ground rent and service charges.
