Bus Interchange and Waterhouse Street

New bus shelter in the Hemel Hempstead Bus Interchange

Hemel Hempstead bus interchange, located on Marlowes and Bridge Street, opened in 2017 following a £2 million investment. It's part of our wider £30 million Hemel Evolution regeneration programme.

Benefits include:

  • A dedicated arrival and departure area for buses and coaches, with modern shelters and real-time passenger displays - allowing customers to make best use of their time in the town centre
  • Landscaping and lighting – making the area more attractive with new trees and greenery, improved lighting and seating
  • A new travel information centre next to the neighbouring food court in the new-look pedestrianised shopping area
  • Two new free public toilets installed next to the travel centre.

The travel centre is being run by Arriva The Shires and offers ticket sales and travel advice to customers across all local bus company routes.

We have also updated the ramped area - railings have been painted, and refurbished planters from Market Square now add some greenery.

Waterhouse Street

Waterhouse Street is also complete and fully operational, with a relocated and extended taxi rank on one side and disabled/meter parking on the other, including 12 dedicated Blue Badge disabled spaces.
