Cycling in the pedestrianised area of Marlowes in Hemel Hempstead town centre is prohibited.

Signs have been installed to inform the public that cycling is not allowed in this area, and information has also been put out on social media, town centre notice boards and the Online Watch Link website.

Penalties

Working in cooperation with the police, we will be carrying out patrols to speak to people that are cycling along the pedestrianised area of Marlowes. Community protection notices may be issued to people who continue to cause nuisance by cycling through this area.

If you breach a community protection notice:

  • You may be issued with a fixed penalty notice.
  • You may be prosecuted, convicted and fined (up to £2,500 for an individual).

Alternative routes

You can avoid cycling along the pedestrianised area of Marlowes by using Bridge Street and Waterhouse Street.
