Charges

Standard rate

From 1 April 2023 - 31 March 2024 the weekly rent for a standard garage is:

Higher rate

We now charge a higher rate for 'premium' garages in the 10 areas where we have the highest demand: Allandale, Anchor Lane, Beech Drive, Chaucer Close, Douglas Gardens, Eight Acres, Figtree Hill, Hammer Lane, Hilltop Road and Spring Lane.

From 1 April 2023 - 31 March 2024 the weekly rent for these 'premium' garages is:

All other applicants  £17.46 (includes £2.91 VAT) 

If you are a Dacorum Borough Council tenant or leaseholder and rent more than two garages, VAT will be payable on any further rentals.

Payments

Payment must be made by Direct Debit, although council tenants have the option of having their garage rent linked to their house account. Please note: if you have tenancy arrears with us at the point of either registration or application for a garage, you will be rejected until they are cleared.

  • Can I rent a garage anywhere in Dacorum?

    Yes. You can bid for any available garage in Dacorum.

  • Can I rent more than one garage?

    Yes, you can have as many garages as you want. However, once you've been allocated a garage, your registration date will be changed to the date that you were given a garage so you may not be as high up on the shortlist as you previously were.

  • Who fixes my garage if there is a repair issue?

    If you have any repair issues with your garage, please call the Osborne Repair Centre on 0800 018 6050.

  • I'm not first on the bidding list for a garage, is it still worth bidding?

    Yes. Just because you're not top of the bidding shortlist for a particular garage, does not mean that you will not get it. The applicants towards the top of the list may be top of another garage shortlist and may choose the other garage, leaving you in the top position.

    As you can bid for as many garages as you like, you should bid on any garage that you would like to rent.

  • Can I use a garage for business purposes?

    No. You must not use the garage for any purpose which constitutes ‘business’ (as defined in the Landlord and Tenant Act 1954, Part ll). You may not carry out any trade from the garage.
