Get involved

To deliver a great housing service, we want to listen to our tenants, empower them to influence decisions and create opportunities for them to tell us what they think.

Our commitments

  • All our tenants and leaseholders have the opportunity to get involved
  • We work in partnership to ensure our housing service is shaped by the needs of our tenants
  • Young people within Dacorum's tenant population have a voice and a positive influence in their local communities
  • Our housing service is accountable to our tenants and leaseholders

All of our Get Involved commitments are in line with the Tenant Involvement and Empowerment Standard as set out by the Homes and Communities Agency.

For more information, please see our  Get Involved Strategy 2020-2024 (PDF 3MB).

Tpas Pro Landlord AccreditationTpas Pro Landlord Accreditation

We are pleased to say that we have been awarded the Tpas Pro Landlord Accreditation for our approach to tenant engagement.

This is the highest level that Tpas awards and we are the first social landlord in the country to achieve this.

If you'd like to get involved, please speak to your supported housing officer or email tenant.involvement@dacorum.gov.uk.

  • Tenant Academy

Our Tenant Academy offers a range of free courses to our tenants and leaseholders. Please take a look at our Tenant Academy page for more information.

  • Community grants

If you are part of a community or voluntary group, you may be eligible for funding. For more information about community grants, please see our community grant page.

  • Tenant Management Organisations

Local authority tenants have had a statutory Right to Manage since 1994. We do not yet have any Tenant Management Organisations (TMOs) in Dacorum, but we would support any of our tenants and leaseholders who would like to exercise this right.

You would need the backing of your neighbours to look into whether this option might be right for your block or area. By following Right to Manage regulations your TMO could take over responsibility for managing housing services, such as repairs, caretaking, and rent collection. You can find more information about your right to manage on the Government website.

  • Housing Service consultations

    Flexible tenancy survey

We recently reviewed our use of flexible tenancies, and asked you to complete a short survey. Thank you for your feedback.

We're studying the results to help us decide the next step for your tenancies. (If you already have a secure tenancy, this will not change.)

We will let you know the outcome of this consultation early next year (2020).

If you have any questions in the meantime, please contact Vivienne Cunningham, Lead Officer (Tenancy) on 01442 228007 or email vivienne.cunningham@dacorum.gov.uk.

Kimpton Close and Cleves Road consultation

We want to improve our tenants' quality of life. Together with our contractors, Osborne, we're planning to improve the estates of Kimpton Close and Cleves Road.

We made it a priority to give our residents the opportunity to have a say on certain aspects of the improvements. We carried out a door-to-door survey and spoke to as many residents as we could to get their views on the area. We also invited them to a consultation event, which was held in the car park of Cleves Road on 29 August 2019.

On the day, we had a very good turnout of 47 tenants from both Kimpton Close and Cleves Road. They had the opportunity to see our proposed plans and ask our surveyors and Osborne any questions they had. In addition, they were able to vote on their preferred designs for the potential new bin, fencing and bike stores.

Details of start dates to be confirmed.

    Leaseholder Service consultation

We're currently reviewing the services we offer to Leaseholders.

We carried out a consultation during December 2018 and January 2019. Here's a short video that summarises what you told us:

We will use your comments to make improvements to the Leasehold Service and let you know when any changes have been made.

    43-89 Fennycroft Road residents' consultation

The consultation has closed and we will contact residents soon with further information.

In the meantime, please email tenant.involvement@dacorum.gov.uk if you have any questions.
